Job Summary

As a member of the EMEA Construction Underwriting team within SCOR Specialty Insurance department, you will be closely working with the Regional Head Construction based in London and with the Global Head Construction based in Zürich. You will also be part of a growing Specialty Insurance team dedicated to German clients based in Cologne and Zürich. Your main responsibility will be to produce new business from the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) in Contractors All Risks (CAR) and EAR (Erection All Risks) policies as Single Project or Annual covers, both on direct or reinsurance basis, with a strong primary focus on German clients. Your personal skills and knowledge will add value to the experienced existing team.
 

Workplace of this function can be either in SCOR's Zurich or Cologne office. 

 

 Key duties and responsibilities

  • Underwrite, build and maintain a profitable portfolio in accordance with the Specialty Insurance underwriting guidelines
  • Underwrite in a technical manner to assess risks in order to determine their insurability and apply appropriate terms and conditions
  • Identify new business targets in order to develop a profitable profile for SCOR Specialty Insurance Single Risks
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and their intermediaries (corporate clients, brokers, and ceding companies) with a primary focus to German-Austrian-Swiss clients
  • Building a network and maintaining existing customer relationships
  • Adopt a solution-oriented customer centric view, in building on cross selling with other Lines of business or with treaty for fac services.
  • Participate in comprehensive global construction initiatives and projects
  • Willingness to travel regularly
  • Workload 80-100% possible

 

Required experience & competencies
You are a Construction / Engineering underwriter with at least 5 to 10 years of experience in your insurance market with exposure to all types of international construction risks.  Previous experience of working in the construction industry is also desirable.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and confident to represent SCOR at conferences, meetings or professional associations
  • Able to travel regularly
  • German on a native level and excellent English communication and presentation skills required (Spanish or any other Language is a plus)
