Job Summary

The position holder will manage the P&C reserving team in Asia and be responsible for the reserving of all portfolios booked in the APAC region, including managing the reserve opinions where legally required.  In addition, the position holder is required to provide input for solvency calculations and ORSA reports.


Key duties and responsibilities


  • Manage and develop a team of senior actuaries
  • Oversee the quarterly reserving process for the analysis of the technical reserves for all SCOR subsidiaries in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Ensure the timely preparation of quarterly and annual reserves’ reports to the Global P&C Chief Actuary and Group Chief Actuary
  • Ensure compliance with SCOR internal controls and reserving policy and guidelines as well as adherence to local regulations for statutory submissions
  • Ensure continuous development and optimisation of the reserving processes e.g., via automation of recurring tasks
  • Enhance the accuracy of current reserving models to minimise model risks and assess the implementation of new reserving methods
  • Identify areas of the regional portfolio that require more in-depth risk analysis and lead such activities in coordination with key stakeholders such as underwriters and claims
  • Lead the APAC team participation in Business Unit projects
  • Responsible for the preparation of local statutory and regulatory reports for several legal entities
  • Advise senior management and regional office on actuarial issues regarding solvency, capital, profits, reinsurance and others
  • Be the Certifying Actuary for the MAS regulated entity
  • Provide input into the internal capital model process under the Solvency II capital framework
  • Provide input to risk management as part of the local ORSA reports



Required experience & competencies



  • Qualified Actuary with either the UK IFoA or the American CAS
  • 10+ years of experience in (re)insurance
  • Significant experience in actuarial reserving
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Knowledge of several Asian regulatory frameworks, such as Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia
  • Experience writing technical reports

Required Education

  • Qualified actuary in an internationally recognised actuarial society
  • BSc or above in actuarial science or a related field
