Job Summary

Our Company’s Singapore office has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Risk Manager within the Life Underwriting Risk Management Asia team. This one-year contract will offer an opportunity to work with one of the world’s largest reinsurers in a fast-paced, exciting & dynamic environment.



Key duties and responsibilities

Overall mission: Work closely with Head of Life Underwriting Risk Management APAC Macro Markets in the global missions.

As Underwriting Risk Manager, your role is:
•Actively contribute to the underwriting risk management activities of APAC Macro markets business,
including the development of an effective network across the Macro Markets and reliably connecting the global strategic risk appetite to macro markets underwriting risk management activity

•Support the development of APAC macro markets contributions to Life, Group or Entities business risk reporting

•Support the APAC macro markets in establishing a strong underwriting risk management framework, including the implementation and monitoring of Strategic framework, inforce management, local guidelines and internal control on the business acceptance processes including cross reviews.

•Contribute to provide timely and high-quality review of underwriting risk management aspects of business transactions including sizable and complex transactions in traditional, Strategic and Financial solution areas (“referrals”) arising from the APAC region, provide recommendations for appropriate risk mitigants, thereby balancing risk management and commercial aspects

• Support underwriting risk review of strategy and risk appetite. Support specific risk analyses to ensure a robust consideration is given to the risks arising

• Promote operational excellence in business acceptance and use of best practices and best tools

• Contribute through ad hoc project work to the activity of the Life Business Acceptance team on global topics

• Support a culture of transparency and thoughtful approach to assessing and managing business risks



Required experience & competencies

Strong experience in Life (re)insurance with emphasis on the biometric insurance risk dimensions
- Experience in operating in a multinational environment
- Minimum 7 years of relevant life insurance industry experience

- Experience in Pricing or Product development would be appreciated

- Experience in applying the Agile methodology through the participation of a project or experience in setting up and leading an agile project would be a positive.

Required Education

- Actuarial background preferred
