Specialty Insurance – Head of Business Development & Reporting


- Job summary

The Head of Business Development & Reporting is focused on the following streams in collaboration with and in support of various stakeholders within SCOR’s Specialty Insurance (SI) arm:

  • Distribution
    • Coordinate client management initiatives worldwide and make sure they are conducted in a consistent and efficient manner,
    • Roll-out partnerships between Specialty Insurance and broker,
    • Analyse existing and new markets to propose new solutions, new businesses to develop the existing portfolio; generate new ideas and offers,
    • Leverage various information sources and tools to provide business intelligence, market research and bespoke analytics to Specialty Insurance managers and underwriters
  • Activity & Closing Operations
    • Ensure the development and continuous improvement of existing and/or new tools enabling to measure Specialty Insurance underwriting and commercial performance,
    • Prepare or coordinate reports and presentations when needed. This will include quarterly Specialty Insurance reports, regular and Ad’hoc reports and presentations to SGPC Finance and Chief Risk Office, monitoring of initiatives, follow-up of compliance with Underwriting and Strategic Plans,
    • Make the best use of such tools and reports to conduct analyses and facilitate informed decision making,
    • Design and implement KPIs and other relevant metrics. Manage finance and performance-related internal controls.
  • Data
    • Support the Management Team & other departments at SCOR by providing accurate data and reporting tools that will help in the managements and analysis of commercial and technical performance of their business. 
    • Automate what can be automated. 

Monitor developments in technology that may be useful for the business.


- Key duties and responsibilities

Your ultimate mission is to contribute to the formulation, organization, articulation and implementation of the Business Development & Reporting Team’s data strategy that is geared towards the effective and efficient active engagement of business requirements from its stakeholders.

In practical terms, your assignments will revolve mainly around the following subjects:

  • Reporting
  • Creation and deployment of tools to put accurate data within convenient reach of users, and automation of reports, where applicable, to eliminate any low value middleman. These will necessarily require familiarity with SCOR’s current databases and system architecture, and include preparation of appropriate documentation, where applicable.
  • Drive with the Head of Business Development and Reporting the project that will gather all data from various systems in the Specialty Insurance department, and provide some aggregated report that will help to give the 360° view on the activity, performance and results.
  • Communication and Training

You will be called upon to communicate to and provide training for stakeholders on tools and reports that are created within your scope.

  • Collaboration on Projects and with other Support streams

Smart participation on projects, where requested, to ensure that business needs are not overlooked and such projects are aligned and coordinated with existing data tools and schemes.  You will also be required to assist other streams within CTO on data matters.

  • Technology Watch

Keep abreast of new developments and trends in the realms of data analytics, machine learning, AI and related topics, and their potential application within the existing SCOR ecosystem.


- Required Experience and Competencies

  • You have advanced skillset in Python, SQL and ideally have a working knowledge of Tableau, and are keen to learn other applications and technologies.
  • You are dynamic, curious, autonomous, proactive and, most importantly, a team player.  You enjoy designing methodological approaches from the inception of the idea thru to their implementation.


- Required education

  • Engineer by training or holder of a Master’s degree (Statistics, Big Data, Datamining ...). 
  • A first experience as business data analyst or equivalent is a plus.
