Job Summary

Business Solutions is a Division of SCOR Global P&C dedicated to the underwriting of the insurance and reinsurance programs of large Corporate Clients, with regional underwriting centers located in Paris, London, Zurich, Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul, Beijing, New York, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro and Bogota.   Business Solutions is organized around three Specialties ‐ Energy and Natural Resources (EN&R), Construction and Specialties (C&S), Corporate Property and Casualty (CPC)‐ and 3 regions‐ Asia Pacific (APAC), Europe Middle East Africa (EMEA) and Americas. Each of these entities, Specialties or regions, are managed by a CUO, reporting each of them to Business Solutions CUO, based in Paris.     Under the authority of the North America Construction Manager, the job holder will be responsible for maintaining and developing a portfolio of individual construction (re)insurance accounts within the segments of SBS ranging from Power, Oil & Gas, Commercial/Residential, and Infrastructure projects (bridges, tunnels, rail lines, roads, pipelines, etc). The products will range from Builder’s Risks, Construction All Risks, and Erection All Risks.   

 

Key duties and responsibilities

The Senior Construction Underwriter is in charge of: - Marketing of SBS capabilities and products to North America Corporate Risk Managers, Brokers, and Ceding Companies. - Underwrite Corporate Accounts and build up portfolio, according to the Business Solutions Underwriting Guidelines, - Report on accounts and marketing activity, - Supervise the administration of OMEGA/Forewriter back‐office tool (in liaison with the Technical Assistants ) in relation to new or existing accounts, - Produce marketing materials and intelligence documentation based on research and analysis of JOB SPECIFICATION Job Spec_Blank template_Jan 2014_V5 both the portfolio results and the market data. Main activities: - Identify ways to develop new businesses - Receive, select and evaluate offers (direct or reinsurance) from various sources, calculate ratings, negotiate conditions of the contracts - Generate new offers and promote the Group by pro‐active marketing in accordance with the defined strategy and guidelines, - Work in close cooperation & coordination with his/her colleagues of the Business Solutions network to produce the best and efficient answer to his/her producers, - Respond to all offers in a timely manner, - Create and maintain accurate computer records of approaches and risks accepted, - Research, develop and report on new areas of profitable growth, - Produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required, - Maintain relationships with clients and brokers, - Visit and survey risks where SCOR have significant or lead shares, - Contribute to the technical knowledge of sectors and sub‐sectors in which the jobholder is working, - Reporting and maintaining an accurate computer database, - 25% travel expected Member of the following committees: e.g. Audit committee, Investment Committee etc.

 

Required experience & competencies Experience:

• Work experience in the industry of the construction/engineering/energy. • At least, 5+ years of Construction (Builder's Risks, Construction All Risks, Erection All Risks), underwriting experience of large risks (over $100M in CV) in the North American market. • Proven track record of lead underwriting on Infrastructure projects preferred. • Proven international Exposure. Personal Competences: • Risk Management knowledge. • Business solutions being a global organization it is quite important that the global perspective of our organisation is understood and maintained by the jobholder for any case he/she is involved and work closely with the network to achieve the best result for SCOR Global P&C. • Good communication skills and able to represent Business solutions / SCOR global P&C at conferences, professional meetings and associations. • Knowledge of other lines of business Casualty/Property would be advantageous.

 

 Required Education  

• Engineering or recognized Professional Insurance degree required
