Job Summary:

Responsible for developing, underwriting, selling and retaining profitable reinsurance business within SCOR’s risk profile, including facultative consultations and project work for clients within the incumbent’s portfolio.  In addition, this position will provide market intelligence and assist in the development of marketing strategies and overall expansion of the US Group Reinsurance Operation.  This position should play a transformative role in clients’ group life operations to enhance their competitiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain and improve professional relationships with key decision makers within targeted accounts and reinsurance intermediaries.
  • Execute sales strategies to achieve new production sales goals and marketing plans for Group Reinsurance products, including client project work and implementation of services such as SOLEM, Velogica, Health & Wellness and other SCOR initiatives that enhance the value of the client-SCOR partnership and help our clients achieve their goals.
  • Proactively provide transformative ideas to clients to increase their efficiency and competitiveness while staying in-step/ahead of market trends.
  • Renew and retain in-force accounts following SCOR risk guidelines.
  • Ensure proper risk management processes are implemented and sound operating fundamentals are adhered to by analyzing, underwriting and recommending prospective reinsurance pricing and structures on both new and renewal business.
  • Provide facultative underwriting support to customers consistent with SCOR risk management guidelines.
  • Assist with account management matters such as premium, contract and claims issues.
  • Ensure that client treaties are executed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure solutions are finalized and implemented in accordance with SGLA policies and practices to facilitate timely and accurate resolution of client issues as they may arise.
  • Provide actionable market intelligence regarding client needs, emerging industry trends and competitive positioning to support new product development and business strategies.
  • Engage with clients, prospects and brokers at their offices and industry conferences to actively promote SCOR’s current value propositions. Up to 20% of time could be devoted to client and business development-related travel.
  • Actively support client initiatives sponsored by SGLA.
  • Support SCOR initiatives with respect to maintenance of management systems such as Everest and Salesforce.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Required Experience:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Other relevant professional designations preferred (e.g., CLU, FLMI, FSA, CFA)
  • 10+ years Group Life insurance / reinsurance experience in a responsible marketing related position.
  • 3 years of experience in facilitating business decisions, demonstrating leadership of direct or indirect teams
  • Superior human relations and communication skills (oral & written)
  • Negotiation / relationship management experience in B2B environments
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships both external and internal
  • Computer literate and comfortable with evolving communication technologies
  • Ability to recognize sales opportunities & influence the positioning of SCOR solutions
  • Ability to effectively work with internal resources & experts to achieve goals
  • Effective multi-tasker with demonstrated comfort and ability to effectively prioritize and manage several high-stakes transactions with sense of urgency and a results orientation
  • Persuasive communicator in terms of written and oral communications, including formal and informal presentations, including effective listening skills
  • Passionate team player, collaborating where needed with team members, in an effort to achieve organizational growth, profitability and operational goals
  • Takes accountability for role and results and holds others accountable
