Job Summary

Based in Chicago, this position will be part of a Global team for the 5th largest reinsurer in the world. Reporting to both the MGAs Pricing Manager and Americas CAT Manager, the role-holder will represent the team in global projects at the forefront of technical innovation in cat risk insurance.  Strong commercial role supporting the production of cat analytics including catastrophe contract pricing, portfolio analysis, and streamlining of processes.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Being able to independently structure and complete more complex modeling analyses
  • oEvaluate partner exposure data, produce modeling losses, and provide technical pricing indications for the cat component of proportional and per risk contracts
  • Price stand-alone catastrophe excess of loss contracts using a combination of cat modeling results, partner historical experience, and additional market methods
  • Participate in catastrophe model evaluation, sensitivity testing and calibration studies
  • Proactively support the team as a recognized center of excellence for catastrophe risk management within the Specialty Insurance Group
  • The ability to work directly with other teams from the Americas including Risk Management, Actuarial, and Underwriting
  • Willingness to travel and represent SCOR in a professional way with external partners

Required experience & Education

  • Degree in a quantitative discipline or related field desired
  • Relevant catastrophe modeling experience in (Re)insurance setting and working knowledge of catastrophe modeling applications (RMS or AIR)
  • 1-3 years of Treaty and/or Pricing experience desired but not required
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required; ability to multi-task.
  • Clear communicator, able to structure an argument and ability to explain complex issues in a simple way
  • Highly motivated and excellent team player
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and ability to manipulate and format data sets.
  • SQL, GIS, VBA, R skills advantageous
