Job Summary

This role is responsible for building interactive, advanced, customizable Tableau dashboards for both internal and external clients using large datasets. In addition, this role will also gain an understanding of the major functions of Business Development, Underwriting, Operations, IT, Business Intelligence and Integration within the Velogica department and applying those skills to optimize the value provided to the client.


Key duties and responsibilities

  • Design and create data visualizations (dashboards) as required to support business needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions.
  • Design and implement BI Tableau operational processes, metrics and programs as needed.
  • Performing and documenting data analysis, data validation, and data mapping/design.
  • Champion dashboard quality, consistency, usability and reliability by documenting and applying best practices to design and development.
  • Understand client objectives and processes, and plan and coordinate the execution of the internal implementation team’s fulfilment of those objectives.
  • Understand the Velogica data model and develop the skills and tools necessary to efficiently execute ad-hoc queries in support of client or internal requests.
  • Support client integration efforts by leading the development, understanding and proposal of underwriting applications, rules, mapping and scoring.
  • Coordination and/or execution of audits required to support operational processes.
  • Perform quality control processes on periodic system updates and the implementation of underwriting rule changes.
  • Adhere to all Information Security policies and best practices, including security awareness training and other information protection initiatives.
  • Foster and participate in a culture of continuous improvement and psychological safety.
  • Other duties as required for the position.


Required experience & education

  •  Extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and managing Tableau driven dashboards & analytics and working knowledge of Tableau administration/architecture.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Tableau dashboard development.
  • Preferred candidate would have Snowflake experience.
  • 3-5+ years of data analysis experience.
  • Preferably certified in Tableau Desktop to apply best practices in data visualization.
  • Preferred candidate would have 2+ years of programming in Python or R.
  • Preferably knowledgeable in Tableau Security and Server for report distribution and governance controls
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software such as Excel (including formulas, calculations, charts, graphs, pivot tables, etc.), PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with semi-structured data and data preparation, including 2 or more years of experience with SQL preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage multiple tasks at one time.
