Job Summary


Business Analyst for SCOR P&C China Reinsurance, supporting the China Reinsurance CUO and China UW team in renewals monitoring and reporting, underwriting plan, monitoring and analysis of business performance and undertaking market studies to identify opportunities.


Follow the guidance of the Fast Growth Markets Chief Business Analyst to harmonize / improve across the regions and Global Lines the Plans and Renewals processes and Analytical tools and methodologies used to assess and control the Reinsurance Business Performance and Managed Clients’ activity by way of dashboards and aggregation tools.


Key duties and responsibilities


1) Take care of the renewals and plan processes for China Reinsurance, including the collection of data, inputs in the tools, and production of reports, analysis and presentations. This includes: 

Underwriting Plan

  • Support Underwriting Plan process

Portfolio Analysis and Reporting

  • Monitor business performance; analyze and identify areas to improve business performance
  • Development / maintenance of key performance indicators and update of loss and rates evolutions and indexes
  • Contribute to the Risk concentration and aggregation monitoring
  • Perform market assessments (including peer analysis, new/evolving products/solutions etc.) and develop strategies to improve business: in conjunction with SCOR P&C’s Functions and Business Units, elected and prioritized by the China Reinsurance CUO depending on market or internal topics


  • Coordinate Renewal monitoring and reporting, working with underwriting, pricing and catastrophe modelling teams.

Process and tools enhancement

  • Improve data accuracy and process efficiency, automating wherever possible and investigating tech solutions
  • Work on IT tool development to support underwriting teams

Internal Retrocession and Operating Plan Memo

  • Support SCOR SE Beijing Branch CEO and CFO in optimizing P&C internal retrocession structure and by providing memo summarizing SCOR SE Beijing Branch P&C operating plan


2) Support key meetings for China Reinsurance and SCOR SE Beijing Branch

  • Preparation of presentations, documents and meetings’ minutes for China Reinsurance monthly meetings, SCOR SE Beijing Branch Leadership quarterly meetings etc.



Required experience & competencies



  1. 3 to 5 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector, in a technical function (actuarial, modelling or underwriting support)
  2. Business exposure in China is a plus

Personal Competencies:

  1. Excellent IT skills including programming (e.g. SQL, Python or R). Prior experience with Power BI and/or Tableau is a plus.
  2. Good organizational and communication skills in English and Mandarin
  3. Ability to work on several concomitant projects and tasks, hence the necessity to prioritize 
  4. Analytical, Rigorous, attention to detail and accuracy
  5. Pro-active and “I can do” attitude
  6. Curiosity and interest to work on topics outside of her/his core area of competencies


Required Education

  1. We are looking for a highly skilled technical person with quantitative background (e.g. Bachelor/Master of Science in Mathematics, Computer Science etc.)
  2. Data scientist or actuarial background are main assets. Certified actuary is a plus.
  3. Further insurance or financial-related studies are desirable.
